Hello, everyone! Welcome to General Measure's channel. In this video, we will show you how to troubleshoot a bagging scale that does not start feeding after startup.
In operation, bagging scales may occasionally encounter application issues. When this happens, targeted troubleshooting is required for different issues.
If the bagging scale does not feed after startup, there are usually three possible causes:
1. Product Gate Opening Not Set or Set Too Small
If the scale starts but does not feed, first check whether values have been set for the fast-, medium-, and slow-feed gate openings on the main screen. These parameters must not be set to “0” while operation
(If it is two-stage feeding: the medium-feed opening can be set to 0.)
If the gate openings have been set, tap [Fast Feed] to run a test and observe the feeding gate.
If the feeding gate opens normally, check whether the opening is too small then causing a material blockage. Increase the fast-feed opening properly and check whether material flow returns to normal.
If the feeding gate does not open normally, proceed to the next step and check the other relevant parameter settings.
2. Incorrect Parameter Settings
If the gate opening settings on the main screen are correct, verify the following parameters in sequence:
On Page 5 of Working Parameters, set the feeding mechanism type to Motor Feeding.
Confirm that the I/O parameters are correctly assigned to feeding motor control.
Confirm that Motor Pulses per Revolution and Gearbox Reduction Ratio under Control Parameters are set to their default values.
Confirm that the servo drive parameters match the bagging scale. Inovance and Dongling drive parameters are shown here as examples. Parameter settings vary by drive brand; please contact General Measure Technical Support for details.
3. Hardware Troubleshooting (Main Control Board, Servo Drive Control Cable, Servo Drive, and Feeding Motor)
If all parameter settings are correct, inspect the hardware. A multimeter and a flat-head screwdriver are required for this procedure.
Open the electrical control cabinet and inspect the control cable between the main control board and the servo drive: Check the wiring is secured, and make sure the drive-side connector and retaining screws are securely fastened.
If any wiring is abnormal, reconnect it and test the machine. If the wiring is normal but the problem persists, continue to the next step.
2. Check the Main Control Board Output
With the machine stopped, measure the voltage at the DR1 output on the main control board (normal voltage: 24 VDC ±10%).
If there is no output, or the voltage is outside the normal range, replace the main control board. If the voltage is normal, continue to the next troubleshooting step.
3. Check the Servo Drive and Motor
If the main control board is operating normally, inspect the servo drive and feeding motor.
Troubleshooting procedures vary by brand and model. We recommend contacting General Measure Technical Support for assistance.
If multiple machines of the same model are available on site, you can also swap the main control board or servo drive between machines for testing to quickly identify the faulty component.
